Journaling on the go.....

Since I was eight years old, I have been a diligent journal writer, well.... up until I had kids that is. I have journal after journal professing my love for the various jr. high boys of the week and sob stories of the ones that didn't quite work out. I make sure that I write about the important events like the birth of the children and other momentous occasions but have the guilt of not being consistent. What is missing is the daily events; the thoughts that run through my head on a regular basis of what it is like to be a mother, what makes me smile, what makes me cry, what inspires me. I want those that come after me to find out who the real Shari Goodman was. I want them to know that I had a gratitude for life and everything that came with it, the good and the bad. I want them to learn through my experiences and know that life is what you make of it. With that being said, I decided to get back on the bandwagon this year and do a better job of writing. I can't seem to do it at home because , well, you know, the time issue and the lack of alone time. So, I decided to keep a journal in my car. I am always in the car and very often waiting for someone to come out of volleyball, baseball, dance or preschool. I usually have 10 minutes here or there to capture thoughts. I have loved this because not only is it handy to jot down those cute things kids say, but it is there when I need to write down the things that I am thankful for that day. Especially on days where I need to feel thankful; those days when nothing is going quite right. I love to read over these in the car and my kids love to hear them also. I wish I had started this a long time ago. My "on the go" journal is a great tool for me to remember what I love about life ,and somehow knowing that I need to fill the pages makes me look around me for good things to fill it with.

I really like your idea - that is one I might apply for myself! You think you are going to remember what your child said right at the moment, but the details always seems to quickly fade from your mind.

What a great idea!! So simple...and yet so handy. I have tried to keep up on my blog for daily events...but I try not to let myself get too personal on there- so I think I will try that. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Shari,
Random question. Which George Foreman grill do you recommend?

Hey Christina! There are so many different foremans out there and some with several different attachments. I wouldn't bother with those but get a big family style one. I have the silver one which is a little better quality one. YOu can usually tell by the price. Its worth it to spend a little more so the hinges don't break on the bigger items you are cooking.

I've read two posts total or blog entries. And I must say wow! It is obvious to me that many will benefit from your attitude and insights on life. I've heard quite a bit about your blog now it all makes sense. I want to say that I believe your good attitude is a direct result of your desire to express your gratitude for what you have been blessed with. It is a common denominator among truly happy people. They choose to remember and be thankful for all God has blessed them with.

Unfortunately the opposite is true of all truly unhappy people I know. They have forgotten to be grateful for the things they have been blessed with. Again Sincerely, one who is thankful you are enlightening homemakers.
