Allergies

I know I have talked about allergies before but I get so many emails about it, especially this time of year, that I think it is time for another recap.

I have allergies. My kids and husband all have allergies. We moved out to Gilbert with pecan trees lining the street. They are beautiful. Unfortunately, we found out that we are allergic to them. Fortunately, I can now deal with it and I don't have to take drugs.

First thing, let's discuss why you don't want to have allergies. There is the obvious; runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, fatigue, irritability, eczema, itching. You know the drill. Who wants to deal with that? However, there is much more to allergies. When the body becomes allergic, it gets inflamed. It is irritated. It creates mucous. Mucous attracts illness. Once your body gets allergies, it creates more allergies. This is especially true when children come down with allergies early on. Food allergies perpetuate themselves. You start with one then it snowballs until you have a whole plate full of things you can't eat. Airborne allergies are hard because you can't take yourself out of the world. I can't cut down the whole neighborhood of pecan trees.

What to do? If it is food, start eliminating what bothers you. Start one at a time until you figure out what it is. The big offenders are: Dairy, eggs, soy, corn and wheat. Go one by one, allowing at least one to two weeks each. Once you figure it out, stop eating it for at least 6 months. The body can actually heal itself of the food allergy and you may be able to eat it later in life. However, if you don't lay off of it, the allergy will get worse and other allergies will grow.

For outside allergies, you need to help the body not react to the allergens. You need to calm the body down. This also helps with food allergies.

There are natural ways to do this and I am here to swear by them. I have tried many natural solutions and I have been disappointed by many. Now I have a true and tried system that works for me. It may not help everyone but I know that almost everyone who has tried it faithfully has come back for more.

New Beginnings has a product called A & I (allergy and inflammation). It is non-drowsy and contains only a few herbs. You start off taking a loading dose, am and pm then after things calm down, you can take a smaller dosage in the am and pm. When allergies are down, you don't need to take it but if you are allergy prone, it is a good idea to take some regularly. The idea is to keep the inflammation down so you don't flare up.

My other trick is peppermint oil. If I wake up with a little allergies, I put a very small bit of the peppermint oil on my tongue and under each nostril. Very little as it will sting a bit. It opens up the sinuses and zaps the allergies. I follow it with a couple A & I and I am good to go. You can take it 3 times a day if needed.

Since I have followed this regimen, I rarely have allergies that stick around any longer. I can go outside and run without coming home with itchy eyes.

The children's chewables are my favorite when my mouth starts to itch from eating certain types of fruit that trigger an allergic response for me. I chew on them and hold them in my mouth for a minute. It takes away the itch on contact. Kids do great on the chewables and they have helped many eczema laden kiddos.

Cod liver oil is another great tool for helping bind the histamines in the body and getting them out. 1 - 2 T. daily is a great thing to add to the breakfast smoothie or juice.

You don't need to live with allergies. You don't need to live on Claritan. You don't need to feel drowsy and irritable.

I am ordering on Monday for any who need to place an order on any products.

A & I capsules are $34
A & I childrens chewables are $15
Peppermint oil is $16
Cod Liver Oil is $32

The defense system

School has started and with that has come the arrival of the germ pool at the public schools. I already had two come home not feeling so hot but we nipped that in the bud overnight.

It is the season, the season of the passing of germs from little one, to little one and on to the bigger ones. For some, it seems like it never ends.

That is why it is time again to start amping up the defense system of the body so that it can fight what comes it way.

The regime has started at our house. Germs may come our way, but we never let them stay. I give it one night, tops. It has worked.

I start adding in the liquid D3 to their daily juice to help build the immunity. They don't get as much sun now so it is time to add that back in. They get the vitamin C chewables next to their breakfast plate and some allergy A & I tablets for kicking the allergies out. Allergies bring mucous and mucous hosts germs. Get rid of it.

If per chance they do bring home an unwanted germ guest; we hit it with the second line of defense: Spice of Life essential oils, Allimax liquid, Oreganol, increased D3, increased C and anything else I can think of at the time. It kicks it out, lays it to the curb, defeats its momentum.

I also clean my house almost entirely with Spice of Life in some water in a spray bottle. It kills germs, smells great and cleans wonderfully. It cleans my windows streak free, disinfects my countertops and bathrooms and deodorizes my air. It costs less than $1 per spray bottle when mixed with about 10 drops per 32 ounces of water. Way cheaper than cleaner. You could drink it and clean with it. Find that at the grocery store! My house smells cinnaminny fresh with no toxins to boot. Super duper. It stops the air borne germs that float around. Make sure you shake the bottle each use to keep the oil mixed in.

If you need to prepare your army of defense, I am ordering on Tuesday. Check out the Apothecary Shoppe and email any orders. You don't have to get sick this fall and winter. It isn't mandatory. Skip the flu shot and soup up your natural defense system. Such a better option.

Fennel

The more I learn about food, the more I am absolutely sure that food has been placed here on this earth for a much greater purpose than to merely keep us alive. Food can heal. The more we learn and understand about the incredible supply of food that we have been given, the greater ability we will have to heal our ailing bodies naturally and to prevent further disease. I am sure of it. Absolutely.

I love to pick apart one food at a time and today's little adventure in food is going to be centered on fennel. Most of you may have never in your life ever purchased a fennel let alone knew what it looked like. Read on and you may want to pick one up next time you go to the market.

Italian's know what's up with fennel. It is very common for fennel to be served at the end of a meal. Why? Well fennel aids in digestion. If you have paid attention to me at all in my years of blog lectures, you will know that digestion is very important to me. If you can't digest it, it will not help you; in fact, it can harm you. You need to be able to get the food processed as intended and fennel can help you do just that.

The alkalinity of fennel aids in digestion and helps to metabolize the fat in food. There is a male and a female fennel. The male is taller, more slender in appearance while the female has a wider base. Go figure. The male is better for digestion as it is less fibrous. But, we may not be able to be so picky at our stores. Any fennel will be helpful.

Another great attribute of fennel is it's ability to stimulate estrogen production. It is great for those with PMS problems or those going through menopause or low estrogen count. It can help ease cramps and menopausal disorders.

Fennel oil is great for skin. It is helpful for tightening skin and in treating oily skin. It is great as a moisturizer especially with coconut oil. It has been used for centuries in Europe for skin health.

Fennel can also help to detoxify the liver, uninflame joints and help with rheumatism. It is a natural anti inflammatory, analgesic and laxative.

If you haven't tasted fennel before, it has a licorice sort of taste. It is used in flavorings for toothpastes and mints and as a scent in soaps and perfumes. It is used in Jamaican recipes and spices and is one of my very favorite ingredients in my most favorite Spice Hunter blends, "Jamaican Jerk" spice. I will share more on that later.

You can get this as an essential oil so you can massage some right on the stomach for digestion issues or cramps or take some internally under the tongue. It is great to keep on hand when you travel.

Fennel oil is an inexpensive oil at $15. I have a couple on hand for any takers. There is also a special blend of digestive oils called Di-gest that has fennel along with a few other great digestive oils. It is especially helpful for those little colicky babies. It is $26 per bottle. My kids know what to do if they have an upset stomach and they swear by rubbing these oils on their stomachs. They smell like a stick of liquorice but they get instant relief.

I love not having to use medicine. We haven't touched a tums in years. Once again, use what grows and you will need nothing else. Promise.

Essential Oils Web Page

I
have had many calls on essential oils this week so I edited the Be Young Essential Oils link at the right so you can now look at the products. The prices listed are the prices you pay. If you order from me by email or phone call instead of ordering of the web page, I will not charge you shipping or tax. I don't do a multi level business so I just order as I need them or people call me. I love these oils and I trust them. If you would like any questions answered , email or call me. There are many oils to choose from but I have my favorites. And, to answer a few recent questions, here are a couple oils I recommend to have on hand:

Helichrysum: This is an oil to have on hand if you have scorpions around. I don't have them but my friends who do swear by it to take the sting away. It is the most expensive oil on the list, unfortunately but it will last you forever. The bottle is $94 but if a few want it, the bottle can be split up into 4 smaller bottles. This oil is also great for liver issues, acne, boils, eczema, cuts and bites.

Oregano: This is natures antibiotic. It is a strong oil and needs to be taken in capsules if taken straight. It will burn the skin. If you by a cheaper brand, you can swallow it whole, that is an indicator that the quality is not so great. Great to have on hand to combat strep and other infections. This bottle is $28.

Essential Oil Cases

My friend, Cindy Sage, is a fellow oil addict and has come up with a great idea for carrying them in your purse. It is far better than my little "zip lock baggie" system.
She has sewn these little pouches in various sizes to hold the bottles. They hold a few large bottles and then she sells these cute little bottles that you can put your oils into for traveling. The are ever so cute in adorable fabrics. I absolutely love mine because I just must have my oils with me at all times. I am so dependent on them now.

Here is a picture of her three sizes. I have the small one , at least until I get a bigger purse, then I will upgrade. I carry lemon, peppermint, spice of life, eucalyptus, digest, lavender , tea tree and fysical thera P. They are my first aide oils. If you haven't gotten into these yet; you really must. I was a little unsure at first but I have my own personal successes with them and so many others are sharing theirs with me. I will be sharing those in upcoming blogs! As always, going natural is the best medicine. We just need to learn how to use the natural remedies.

To check out Cindy's great cases, visit her at addicted to oils.com.

**I am placing oil orders this week for anyone needing supplies.

Essential Oils web page and orders...

I have been asked about the new Essential Oil Web page and what oils I use. The new link is at the right under "Be Young essential oils". The web page still says "Forever Green" but that has changed to Be Young. When you are on the main page, go to the left side under categories and click on essential oils for the list of oils. I am ordering this Friday for anyone interested. I am also placing a large order this week so for anyone interested, there will be no tax or shipping charge in state, $5 if you live out of state. The prices you see for the oils are the prices you will pay total. Great Savings. The Spice of Life, now called Touch of Spice will be $29 instead of $34. My personal favorites:

Lemon oil
Orange oil
Peppermint
Lavender
Tea Tree
Touch of Spice
Oregano
Breathe (used to be Exchange)
Eucalyptus

The perfect medicine Chest! There are many more and if you are looking for symptom specific oils, email me and I will let you know!

**I get emails from those with great stories from using the oils. The latest is from Linda who says her husband has issues with periodontal disease and has tried everything. His Dr. told him about a lady who used a product that has helped her immensely. He called this lady to find out that it was the Spice of Life! They are now using it as toothpaste with great results. I have heard this was a perfect toothpaste as it kills almost everything and bacteria is why we get tooth and gum decay. You can mix it with some coconut oil to brush with. The best part is no toxic junk in your mouth!

A Coughless Night....

Long before I became a student of the Essential Oils, I found the Vick's Baby Rub for the little stuffy nosed kids during the night. It opens them up and helps them sleep just a little better during those rough nights. I am sure many of you have tried this and have a little jar in your medicine cabinet. Since I started with oils, I am a fan of the eucalyptus, lavender and Exchange oil to help. I haven't touched this little jar since. But...I received an email from a friend the other day talking about the vapor rub for coughs. It just so happened that Tate started coughing that day. The email said to rub the vapor rub on the souls of the feet and then put socks on. It will knock the cough out. It works with my oils, but, for the sake of my readers who don't prescribe to the oils, I thought I would take it upon myself to be the test case.
I put it on when Tate was sleeping and already coughing. I massaged it into the balls of his feet, the chest reflexology point for 5 minutes or so. I put on the socks and left the room. Within minutes, he no longer coughed and did not cough for the entire night. I did so the next night and not a cough in site as soon as it was applied. As you probably know, cough medicine is not only horrible for you but doesn't work for kids anyways. This is such a better way to go!
So, what is in this vapor rub? Eucalyptus oil, lavender, coconut oil. It is the poor girls essential oil kit. I don't like that it has a petroleum oil base but at least it is on the feet and not in the mouth. I will still use my pure oils but for those of you who aren't going that route, I have tried it out. It works! It is cheap. Thanks, Mary Ann for the tip!

The Liver Cleanse....

The liver is a massive organ that is the first line of defense against all the toxins and poisons that surround us. The liver produces vital digestive juices that help us to digest our food properly and clean our blood. As we know, our world is full of harsh and dangerous chemicals that we intake daily in our food, our air and in our water. The liver does its best to clean our systems of these toxins but it can only do so much before it is overloaded and needs to be cleaned out itself, much like our air conditioning filters. Can you imagine if you never cleaned your car air filter? The car would only work at a minimal level and the engine could suffer severe damage. So it is with our bodies. Our liver needs to be cleaned or the toxins are stored and our bodies react. We may be suffering such things as fatigue, rashes, depression, obesity, hormonal imbalances, PMS, allergies, jaundice , nausea, headaches, drowsiness after eating, weak muscles and difficulty loosing weight just to name a few. For my family, allergies are a big problem around here. I have been excited to start the liver cleanse to help clear us of these problems. If the liver can work properly, toxins are cleared and allergies are diminished. We shouldn't have allergies. They are a by product of an unhealthy body and environment. I have learned this with Tate as we have fixed his eczema by cleaning out his damaged body and stomach. Now , many foods that once triggered allergies do not pose that problem any longer. His body is much healthier and can get rid of the problems.
We all started the liver cleanse this week officially after starting and stopping a few times. It takes commitment. You need to stay on it for at least 28 days, resting a week and continuing again. Depending on how toxic your body is, you may want to stay on it for a year or more, perhaps even forever. As the liver begins to be cleansed, you feel pretty horrible for a little while. So far, Randi and I and are the ones with the worse side effects. Randi has a sore throat and swollen glands, I feel like I have the stomach flu and am extremely tired. I know it is worth it. Already I have noticed a decrease in allergies. I line up the cups every morning for their liver cleanse cocktail. You must drink it on an empty stomach, first thing. No one is very excited but they drink it down. We follow it with a lick of spice of life and a neti pot cleanse. It is our goal to have another sick free winter. I'll keep you posted.
Here's how you do it:
1 T. fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 drop lemon oil
1 drop peppermint oil
a little purified water just to dilute it a bit.
Drink up! You can add some honey if you need to for the little ones. For those little ninos who have a hard time drinking the cocktail down, you can put the peppermint oil and lemon oil on their feet and putting some lemon juice in their smoothie. It isn't quite as effective but still helps. You need a good quality oil. If you don't buy the pure oil, you never know how the oil has been processed. Many are processed chemically and who wants to add more chemicals to your body when you are trying to get them out in the first place? That is why I support forever green products. I have 8 sets available this week if anyone is interested. It is $35 total for both oils combined, lemon and peppermint (the set will be $40 when I am out of these 8 extra oils, I was able to get a rebate for making such a big order this week so I used that to pay the shipping and tax, next order I won't have that luxury and will have to charge you) . Both of those oils are great to have on hand for other uses as well including:
Peppermint oil: relaxes and soothes; anti inflammatory, eases menstrual cramps, muscular aches and pains, sciatica, arthritis, toothache, sinusitis, mastitis, relieves itching with eczema. Stops pain from bites and injury. Cleanses and purifies. Helps with acne and gingivitis. Tightens capillaries, stimulates white blood cells to strengthen immune system infections, can relieve morning sickness and aid in labor an delivery.
Lemon Oil: Helps decongest the chest, anti-viral to work on colds and flus, assists in weight reduction, helps reduce cellulite and improves circulation. It is also great to clean with.
For me, I have personally had great effects with these oils. I love to add the lemon with some orange oil to clean with in a few cups water in a spray bottle. I also used the peppermint in some water to stop a stomach ache and on my temples to stop a head ache. They smell great and have great effects by just sniffing them alone. I love these oils. I am continually impressed by all the oils that I have used. I have hopes to have all medicines cleared out of my cabinets and having only oils for my first aide.
Let me know who wants some. I will have them in this week. Also, if any of you have certain symptoms and want to know what oils you should use, email me and I will let you know.

Spice Of Life....

FYI, the Spice of Life should be in stock next week. They have a hard time keeping it on the shelf. Sorry it wasn't available for those of you trying to place an order. I will let you know when it is in!
