Quiet

It is the first day of school. The children are all dropped off, I went for my victory run and came home to finish a little straightening up. I fluffed the pillows on the couch and went to pick up this book on the floor that my 7 year old read to little Tate before school. (He had woken up at 5am with three hours to go before school--plenty of time to read!) I felt lonely. Such a weird emotion for me, a mother of 5. I should be rejoicing in this first day of school like I usually do; a little breakfast out with the ladies, a pedicure, a massage. But today was different for the first time. It may possibly be the fact that I had such a great summer with them and didn't get quite enough. It could be the fact that I have teenagers who are hilarious and let me hang out with them and their friends. It could be the fact that they are so great with Tate and are quite helpful at home. Whatever it is, I see this book and want them back just a little." Love you Forever, for now and for always." They are growing up. They are going to leave. My oldest just received his permit and will soon be flying the coop. Can I just freeze them now? I like it just the way it is. It's too quiet. But, give me a minute....I might get used to it.I will have a little more time to blog some great posts for you all so get ready. I am sure my quiet moments will be very brief. Always something to do.

Have a great day. Pedicures? Lunch dates?

I honestly cannot imagine what that day will feel like...it's so hard when you've got toddlers running around making everything difficult. But it is always nice to have a reminder to enjoy the little things!

The last time I read this book to my kids I cried so hard that I stopped half way through, put it on a high shelf, and have not gotten the nerve to read it since :) Have an appt with Dr. Schneider on the 19th. Got ALL my fingers and toes crossed :)
