Valentines Day Help

The other night we had a little Enrichment activity at church and told a few Valentine ideas we had for our children and spouses. Well, I had very little to contribute. We have never done much for Valentines Day in our house. I came home and was telling my husband about the class and some ideas, my daughter overheard the conversation and said, "Hey, wait...other kids actually get things for Valentines Day from their parents?" She just realized she has been deprived. We take them to dinner most of the time but nothing creative. So, fellow readers, give me some cute ideas. I am not quite sure I want to start something at this point, but maybe it is time. I had a friend who would tie a string to each of the childs bed and in the morning, they would have to follow the string around the house to a special prize. I am not one to do big presents, but something cute and thoughtful. Help me out. Also comment any good ideas for spouses, other than the obvious of course, lets keep it clean.

We loved your blueberry pancakes! All of us...my 4 year old, 2 year old, and most amazingly my husband. I even told him they were made with whole wheat flour. They were a hit! Thanks.

Ever Valentines Day that i can remember and was always special was... that when we would come home from school the kitchen table was decorated all cute with the same table cloth every year, balloons or flowers that my Dad had sent me, there was always Valentines yummies, a cute Valentine sign hanging from the light fixture, and my mom would buy each of us a very little something. Such as, a pair of flip flops or a new bathing suit, something simple that we would have needed anyway. I have continued this & my kids look forward to our family Valentines celebration of year. Oh also, Scott always sends a little flower bouquet to his girls. They love it!

I need to try those blueberry pancakes.

For valentines, we have a simple tradition of decorating the house with big hearts that each say something we love about each person in the family. My kids give me their notes about eachother, and I fill them in the night before Valentines Day. They look forward to reading their sweet messages Valentine's morning. Then we will go to their favorite Japanese steakhouse-Ah-So for dinner.

My kids get to go on a treasure hunt around the house Valentine's morning to be led to a family gift (more likely a game that we all can play together). It's actually pretty fun and easy and it encourages us to be with the ones we love. Do I get an amen?
I think we should all meet at Ah-So this year.

For about 3 years now i have been planning to start doing this with my kids on Valentines Day but still haven't started it. This is the year. The family picks out another family in the neighborhood or our ward and sends a V-day goody basket with treats and valentines cards. We even have the family this year. I'm always trying to get my boys to understand the meaning of service and the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you suprise someone. That's it! We are doing it tomorrow for sure!!! I'll tell you how it goes.

For enrichment one year our ladies signed up for our "Secret Valentine" activity. We would sign up if we wanted to participate and then they called us to tell us who we had. We then spent the week leading up to valentines day to do nice things for that person. It could be as simple as putting a poem in their mailbox or cookies on their porch and running away or something big. It was left up to each person. We had a blast!!! But then anytime you do little acts of kindness for people it is fun.
